Destiny
(Owner: Corinne
Schindler)
Destiny is the founder of Acres of Opportunity Ranch. In 2002, she was rescued from an auction in Ohio. She was very skinny and malnourished. She had a scar on her face from where the halter had grown into her nose. She was shy of people and was hesitant to trust. Over time, Destiny and Corinne learned to trust and rely on each other for comfort and security. Together, they have built a relationship based on understanding and respect.

Corinne bought Destiny with only the expectation that she be happy, healthy, and comfortable. Destiny has willingly become much more than that. She now serves the community by teaching students to care for and ride her.

Nina
(Owner: Karen Orlosky)

In May of 2007, Corinne started working with Nina to become a good riding horse. Nina immediately showed Corinne that she was willing to do so much more. Nina has a keen sense for someone who is in need of healing and strength. She is very intuitive to human emotion. She will be the first horse by your side in time of need. Although Nina has a soft side, she is still one of the first horses to gallop around the pasture playfully with the other horses. She is recognized by her long, flowing mane and tail and her goofy behaviors.

Triumph
(Owner: Corinne Schindler
and T.J. Wike)

In 2006, Triumph was rescued from a premarin farm in Minnesota. He had a rough start and was very skittish, trying to jump fences to get away from people.  He had a hard time trusting. Corinne started to work with Triumph, encouraging him to trust people again. In the fall of 2006, Triumph decided he wanted to be part of the AOR herd so Corinne adopted him.

Although Triumph has not been ridden by any children or beginners, he is still a huge part of the AOR program. Many children have worked with him, learning to groom and lead him. In time, Triumph may be a riding instructor.

Bart
(Owner: Acres of Opportunity Ranch)

Bart is the smallest here at Acres of Opportunity Ranch. But don’t let his size fool you! He has the energy and pizzazz of any regular size horse. Bart came to Acres of Opportunity Ranch in June and plays a huge part in the learning process for very small children and students that are intimidated by the size of the bigger horses. Bart is also able to make house calls and visits to nursing homes.

  Philly
(Sponsored and donated by Sharron Pizzuto)
Only 6 months of age, Philly's life started out a little rocky.  Shortly after she was born, Philly punctured her right eye on a fence.  Because of the expense, the breeders were unable to have the eye surgically removed.  Today, Philly has become best friends with Triumph.  She is currently in training and she will either become part of the program or she will be adopted out to a good home.  But for now, she will remain a wonderful part of Acres of Opportunity Ranch!

Rose
(Owner: Acres of Opportunity Ranch)
Rose is one of Acres of Opportunity Ranch’s most valuable program horses.  In the Spring of 2008, Rose was donated to the program by a couple in Wyoming. Rose has some issues with arthritis and is unable to do any heavy ranch work or arena work. When her previous owners learned that Acres of Opportunity Ranch has a program for children that would be suitable for Rose, they gladly donated her to the cause.

Rose is loved by many of the kids and she enjoys the attention they give her. She takes very good care of all of her students.
Gentle Ben
Ben
(Owner: Karen Orlosky)
Ben is a 10 yr-old Standard bred gelding. He was originally a trotter/pacer racing horse and then became an Amish buggy horse. He was in a car/buggy accident that left his hind leg and back injured. Hope Horse Rescue found him at an auction, rescued him and was adopted by Karen Orlosky as a pasture buddy for Sara after Nina moved to Colorado. Through many equine chiropractor treatments, good nutrition, and Reiki his leg is now much more stable. He stands squarely on all four legs and even manages his pacing gait for some distance! He also loves children and was nicknamed Gentle Ben by the kids at Hope.
Callie
Callie
(Owner: Karen Orlosky)

Although we don't know Callie's entire history, we do know that she was used in a traveling circus for some time. We don't know her exact role or what her life was during that time. She was adopted by another person and due to malnourishment and neglect, she ended up at Hope Horse Rescue in Ohio.

Once HHR realized her sweet and wonderful personality with people, especially children, she became their ambassador for years. She traveled to the fundraising events, schools, and events to share her story and promote HHR. We have been given the opportunity to adopt her from HHR to join our community here at AOR. We look forward to giving her the same love and compassion that HHR has done.

Sara
Sara
(Owner: Karen Orlosky)
Sara is a 22 yr-old Colorado Ranger Appaloosa. A horse trainer brought Sara to a barn in Ohio that frequently took in horses that were rescued. She had suffered a neurologic injury due to a beating. She was malnourished and had a partial paralysis of her tongue that has resolved to some degree. She's very patient with children, is well gaited with a gentle disposition. She is partially blind in her right eye as well. She's improved dramatically in the past 4 yrs and is looking forward to working with children in the programs offered by AOR.
Titan
Titan
(Owner: Karen Orlosky)
Titan is a 2 yr-old Shetland pony. He was also rescued by Hope Horse Rescue from a Michigan neglect situation. He's very intelligent, learns quickly but is most definitely 2! His is currently working on respecting space and boundaries. Sara's been "training" him in the art of being a horse in a herd... mostly keeping him out of her food! He's looking forward to learning to carry a rider and pulling a cart with the children in the AOR programs. He was also Callie’s pasture-mate at Hope Horse Rescue.
Max
Max
(Owner: Acres of Opportunity)
Max is a 14 year old Thoroughbred gelding that was generously donated to Susan Parker and Acres of Opportunity Ranch by Kristen Kennedy. Max has been classically trained in Dressage, Cross Country and Hunter Jumping, but due to an injury to his left foot he cannot withstand the stress of eventing anymore. He is looking forward to his new job teaching children at AOR.
